The Truth About Masturbation and Premature Ejaculation

We’ve been dancing around the two, masturbation and premature ejaculation, but it’s time to get it out in the open and look at the facts properly. Masturbation gets a hard rap from all quarters; religions frown on it, adults are queasy at the thought of their teens doing it and men and women do it in secret. But is there any credence to masturbation being the/a cause of premature ejaculation? For that matter, is there any credence to any of the bad things given over to premature ejaculation?

Masturbation and Its Reputation

Masturbation has a sordid history; it has been demonized mainly by Christians who claim that it’s a minor sort of sin. The root of this lies in several bible passages which denounce things like thinking sexually immoral thoughts about women (in the modern day, pornography), lusting, and putting the act of sex above God with the assumption that too much masturbation will lead to a bunch of sex crazy humans! However, the jury is out even today, with some scholars claiming that masturbation was considered unclean, but otherwise no big deal (wash up after and resign yourself to being ritually unclean til the night fell).

The real root lies in the fact that ancient philosophers thought that semen was a precious, finite fluid which was irrevocably linked to the thinking capacities of men. By wasting precious semen in masturbation, ancient doctors believed that men could become stupid and infertile. Of course, we know now that this is bogus, but the legacy of this thought remains in religion and in socialization.

Nowadays, people are torn between two schools of thought: one which denounces masturbation as sinful and unhealthy and the other saying that masturbation is healthy and helpful. The former is where we can find things like masturbation causing premature ejaculation; in the latter camp, we have people using masturbation as a way to control premature ejaculation (though taken too far, it can contribute to delayed ejaculation). So what’s the deal?

Masturbation and Premature Ejaculation

There is a weird correlation between masturbation and premature ejaculation, but let’s clear up the important question: Does Masturbation Cause Premature Ejaculation?

NO. Absolutely not.

While masturbation by itself does not cause premature ejaculation, there is still a link between the two and it relates back to the social aspect of masturbation. Young men (teens) who masturbate in an environment which frowns on that sort of thing and do it anyway, do it quickly in order to get it over with quickly and before they get caught. This in turn becomes habit which then contributes to the problem later in life when the man doesn’t want to go so fast anymore! In this case though, it is the negative social aspect which causes premature ejaculation, not masturbation!

So there you go; premature ejaculation is not caused by masturbation. Indeed, when used correctly, masturbation can help to cure premature ejaculation. So don’t worry about it anymore; masturbation isn’t causing the premature ejaculation problem you are suffering from!
